Practice Bento/ Snack Bentos

Yesterday, I finally got around to making 3 snack bentos which my nieces really enjoyed eating. Putting a bit of creative flair into preparing food makes kids want to eat more. This is a good way to make food look attractive and appetizing, but of course you not only make it pleasing to the eyes but to the palate as well. Hopefully I can prepare fun and healthy snack bentos at least 3-5 times a week for Ykaie to take to school next year. Why only for Ykaie if you may ask? It's because we live in the same house together with her mom ( my sister) and my parents. Ykaie's Dad works abroad so it's just the 5 of us right now.
I'll be practicing making snack bentos once in a while so that when Ykaie starts going to school next year I have already mastered the art of bento making lol!

Cat and mouse bento.

Ykaie's snack bento contains strawberry mouse, mandarin orange, apple rabbit, #2 chicken nugget, cat shaped peanut butter sandwich and chocolate covered rice crispies.

Bento tools and accessories

Bento is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. Eversince I discovered bento-ing 3 years ago, I've been on the look out for cute bento stuffs but I was having a hard time finding bento accessories in the Philippines because bento making is not popular here. Most japanese stores here don't carry bento tools and accessories. I got excited when I heard about Saizen store ( Daiso) opening at Trinoma and everything in the store is priced at Php85 . Saizen is the authorized Philippine retailer of daiso-Sangyo Inc., Japan. Daiso is the largest franchise of 100-yen shops in Japan.

I'm interested in making cute bento lunches and snacks for kids. I'll try to post pictures of my bento meals next time. Making bento is great for kids who are fussy eaters. Anyway, here are photos of the bento stuffs I bought.

I bought this heart shaped rice mold 3 years ago. ( my very first bento tool)

soy sauce bottles given by sis

bought from Saizen last month

food picks

bought online

Geez! I want to get all those cute hello kitty bento tools but they are kinda pricey.

Furikake ( rice seasoning) bought from Choto shop in Makati

Cute lunch boxes

I haven't organized all of them yet. I just placed everything in this plastic box.

Ykaie and Gagay

Just sharing some pictures of my niece Ykaie and her pet rabbit. She named her pet Gagay. I bought this toy baby carriage for her favorite doll but she uses it to carry her pet rabbit. lol! This was one early morning and she just woke up. She was excited to play with the carriage but instead of putting her doll in the carriage, she put Gagay in then she strolled around the neighborhood.
