Growing Water pets

Who knew I would be guest blogging for sis? Hi everyone, this is peach

Anney's not feeling like herself lately so she's taking a little break and I will "do the talking" for the meantime. She is the queen of laziness! lol! She will visit your blogs after her short hibernation.

This is the current "in" thing among kids in the neighborhood. These are "growing" water pets which you can buy for P5.00 each.

This is actually a sponge-like thing which absorbs water when soaked for days.Kids love it when they see their "pets" grow bigger in size everyday.

You'll see almost every kid in the neighborhood holding PET bottles with their water pets in it.

after 24 hours

We bought a crab water pet for my daughter,Ykaie just to be "in"...hahahah ( and so sis & I can play with it..hehehe)..

After 3 days, the crab grew 500% it's size.

Ykaie loves her pet crab...Awww..

She really doesn't know what it is yet but she loves playing and looking at it.

Ice Cream Sandwich

I made some Ice cream sandwiches one sunny afternoon. I baked the chocolate cookies ahead of time. I used an ice cream scoop so that they will all come out the same size.

I bought Selecta's Pistachio and nuts. I'm not a fan of this flavor but since they like it here, I ended up buying this one. I love coffee based ice cream! How about you? What's your favorite flavor?

Use wax paper in wrapping the Ice cream sandwich if you want to eat them at a later time.

I went to Eastwood City last month with my friends. We were so hungry we headed off to Somethin' Fishy Restaurant since they offer an all you can eat lunch buffet. They have Sushi bar, Oyster bar, lechon de leche and an assortment of filipino dishes.

OPERATION 111

This is from bluedreamer27 in commemoration of Philippine Independence Day. Thank you for this wonderful meme.

PHILIPPINE 111TH INDEPENDENCE DAY

"The Philippine Declaration of Independence occurred on June 12, 1898 in the Philippines, where Filipino revolutionary forces under General Emilio Aguinaldo
(later to become the Philippines' first Republican President) proclaimed the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine Islands from the colonial rule of Spain after the latter was defeated at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War. The declaration, in the form of a proclamation, in the presence of a huge crowd, was done on June 12, 1898 at the ancestral home of General
Emilio Aguinaldo between four and five in the afternoon in Cavite el Viejo (now Kawit), Cavite, some 30 kilometers South of Manila. The event saw the unfurling of the National Flag of the Philippines, made in Hong Kong by Mrs. Marcela Agoncillo, Lorenza Agoncillo and Delfina Herboza, and the performance of the Marcha Filipina Magdalo, as the Nation's National Anthem, now known as Lupang Hinirang, which was composed by Julian Felipe and played by the San Francisco de Malabon Marching band."

Want some guava?

I was craving for some guava last week. My Aunt bought me some. I love eating it with bagoong (shrimp paste) or fish sauce with rock salt. I know it's too salty! I have a habit of taking extra salt in my diet. I have to try lessening my salt intake because too much of it has a direct effect on our health specially our blood pressure. I try to drink as much water as possible if I eat salty food. Here are some photos I took before consuming the guava.

Inihaw na Bangus (Grilled stuffed milkfish)

Do you love grilled stuffed milkfish? I do! Sometimes we use banana leaves in wrapping them before we grill.

Ingredients:
Milkfish- Cut along the back, remove innards and clean. Better if you can buy ones that have already been deboned.

Stuffings:
6 tomatoes, chopped
3 onions, chopped
salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp calamansi or lime juice
1 tbsp soy sauce

Soy dip:
4 tbsp Soy sauce
1 tbsp Calamansi or lime juice
chopped red chiles

Procedure:
Stuff the milkfish with the mixture through its back opening

Wrap in foil

Grill until it's done

Slice and serve with soy dip

Leftover grilled milkfish turned into another dish called Bulanglang. Some people don't eat fish head but that's my favorite part! lol!
